- During his six month stay in Estonia, Jeroen got fascinated by the schizophrenic nature of this country. Half of it’s inhabitants adapted to modern, western culture. The other half got stuck in it’s old communist ways. Jeroen recorded this country’s search for a new identity by portraying it’s temporary visitors, mostly western students. Only one of the models is Estonian and this model only wanted to be photographed after being paid. These people represent Jeroen’s view on Estonia’s search for a balance between two extremes. A country wanting to be part of western civilization, without denying it’s roots.
